Mike De Souza Trio
We are thrilled to welcome guitarist and composer Mike De Souza's vibrant young trio to Listen! for the first time. The band performs all new, original music written by Mike which draws on the sounds of contemporary and free jazz and is also influenced by the innovative concepts of sound and structure pioneered by alternative rock bands such as Radiohead and Deerhoof.
The trio also features two of the most exciting and distinctive rising stars of the London scene, drummer Jay Davis and bass player Huw V Williams, who expand Mike's intricate compositions with their energetic improvisations and daring explorations.
Mike and Jay are already well known in Cambridge from their appearances with the popular, genre-defying band Big Bad Wolf, while Huw has performed regularly in the city alongside locally-based musicians Alex Merritt and Joshua Blackmore.
The trio recorded their debut EP, Road Fork, last year and their superb newly-released album, Slow Burn, is already gaining excellent reviews.
