Warmer Than Blood entranced the audience with their hypnotic sounds when they played at Listen! last year, and so we are delighted to welcome them back to launch their new album for Whirlwind Records.
The trio, led by acclaimed writer and guitarist Chris Montague, brings together long-term collaborators, pianist and ECM recording artist Kit Downes and renowned electric bassist Ruth Goller to play his beautiful, intricate music. The three artists, by playing together extensively in recent years, have established a unique musical intuition and bond.
The unusual mix of electric bass, piano and guitar has motivated these remarkable players to find new ways to combine sounds and draw often contradictory elements together. Warmer Than Blood creates spellbinding soundscapes of dark textures, deep pools of harmony, kinetic improvisation and percussive prepared piano. The trio's music lingers in the ears long after the tune has ended.
