Listen! presents...
Chris Batchelor's Zoetic
Celebrated composer and trumpet player Chris Batchelor returns to Listen! with his latest thrilling project.
This outstanding quintet sees Chris further honing and distilling the distinctive approach to writing he established with renowned bands such as Loose Tubes and Big Air, a result of his long-lasting and passionate immersion in a wide range of musical styles.
Chris' new compositions for Zoetic mix East African guitar band grooves with echoes of wistful European folk themes and sinuous lines reminiscent of Arabic music. Add the influence of Chris' signature trumpet sound and you have a rich source of inspiration for this exceptional group of musicians.
This unique combination of instrumentation, the deep bonds the musicians have formed through years of playing together, and the subtle sensitivity of their inviting sound makes Zoetic the perfect band to close our Spring 2022 season.
'Mesmerising interlocking patterns that both engaged the listeners and fired the imagination of the soloists... a genuinely beautiful and moving performance.' (TheJazzMann.com)
